Age of Empires III: Wars of Liberty is a fan-made modification for the Age of Empires III game. This game utility brings new civilizations, natives, music, and more. It also adds in new maps, some of which have special twists to make your game more interesting. More than the new content, this mod will also overhaul the look of the game. Unlike other modifications for AOE3, Wars of Liberty does not overwrite your original game installation. It only needs for you to download and run its installer. 

Expanded universe

What sets Age of Empires III: Wars of Liberty apart from other mods is that it brings a complete overhaul to the game. For one, the mod expanded AoE3’s original concept of cultures by adding five new ones, including Brazilians, Koreans, and Colombians. Each culture has a unique age up systems and has a cultural building that performs unique functions. The old civs are still present but with a few improvements.

Wars of Liberty also brings something new to the gameplay. Spies are stronger than ever and all civilizations have access to a new building—the safehouse. With this, you can train your spies.  Your stealth unit can now also plant landmines, stealthy kills, and even detonate bombs on enemy buildings. Note, however, that the Town Centers cannot reveal spies anymore, so you will have to counter them with your spies or explorers. The mod will also introduce a new religion system, which makes priests much more powerful and interesting. 

Furthermore, there will be more than 60 maps from all over the world. Some random maps will even have special game twists for you. The AI in the game will also cease to be too predictable and will start with a random personality trait, which grants them a unique bonus. Finally, the Wars of Liberty gives AoE3 a complete makeover. All user interface images are now four times the original resolution. With this, everything will look sharp, even in large monitors.

Fans of the popular strategy game are in for a treat with Age of Empires III: Wars of Liberty. For a free and fanmade modification, it brings a whole lot to the AoE3 universe. There will be lots of gameplay changes, world maps, and cultures. More, the game will have a new and sharper look to make your gaming experience even better. However, to get all of these additions, you need to have the AoE3 complete collection or the three AoE3 base games. The app is also quite heavy to the resources.
